Entered my and my dads hunting buddies. 5 total. Figured we got about a 2% chance instead of 1% now lol

I am done giving them my hard earned money. They can stick those un available elk tags where the sun don't shine. They should have done preference points since the very beginning.

It’s $10 man.. and with only ~400 adult tags the preference point system would never work because you have 26,000+ applicants. Hope this clears some frustration up.

We've beat that one to death over the years. I went through the math a couple of times on here. With so few tags and so many applicants, pt system wouldn't change the draw odds.

Just made my annual donation. Question for those that have been drawn or know the answer. I just paid $30.00 for all three options (Bull Firearms, Cow Firearms, & Either sex Archery). I have never been lucky enough to be drawn. However, if you do get drawn, do they knock you out of getting drawn for one of the other options. Basically I just paid for three chances, so if I get drawn for one, do I still have a chance getting drawn for one of the other options?

For example, I get drawn for the Either sex Archery. I still paid for two more chances (Firearms). Is there a possibility of being drawn for the others too? If so, great. If not eligible, then I think they aught to refund some money.

Don’t get me wrong, it would be a blessing to be drawn and I would be appreciative. But, it takes $10.00 for the chance, not $30.00 like I have been paying. Does any of that make sense? I hope I conveyed what I was trying to say.

You only get drawn for one hunt.

Nah, I won’t get it. Paying $30 some years $40 extra for a chance is rough year after year. At least if I do get lucky, keep my $10, that’s fine. But, refund the other chances, if it makes me ineligible to be drawn for those, would be nice.

What is the true cost of a Elk hunt if you were to be drawn?

No lottery works like that. If you're worried about the other $20, only apply for one hunt for $10, and if money is an issue, how are you going on an elk hunt if you do get drawn?
If you don't like this process, don't even think about applying out west, you'll wig out.

I'd bet the minimum resident DIY hunter would have at least $1000 invested. Shoot a nice bull, add another $1000. A NR using an outfitter, $4000-$6000 IMO.

No when you put you and the wife in for every hunt it is more. And if they had done the points system since the beginning at least all of the people who have put in every single year would have gotten a tag. in they beginning there wasn't 60,000 plus putting in every year and several years they drew 1,000 tags.
