Almost impossible to catch them too
Sadly..this is true. Takes a real lowlife to do this.
Coulda been a nuisance to someone, idk
Cold enough for the meat to still be good! Hope someone takes advantage. Try to make something positive out of this.
They will go to Jenny Wiley lodge be my guess
Sad this happens. If someone was starving and used the meat I might understand killing something out of season. To kill and waste no excuse.
What makes it worse is that KDFWR doesn't include these in their reported numbers. Over 1000 carcass tags issued, hundreds, if not thousands of poaching reports, and they DO NOT INCLUDE THEM IN THEIR ELK DATA.........
I’d love to have a rifle in my hands and see some piece of trash doing this. Eastern Kentucky could be a Sportsman’s paradise if we didn’t have trash like those who perpetrated this. Wish I knew who it was, I’d turn them over to LE in a heartbeat.
If you have nuiscience animals you let someone who is lucky enough to draw a tag hunt them. You don't shoot them and let them lay. I hope they catch the SOB that did this and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.
Ky laws aren’t harsh enough imho.
I've had nuisance deer in May. My kids would have went to school without shoes if I waited 6 months for someone to "hopefully" put a stop to the destruction happening on a daily basis.
I don't condone poaching of ANY sort, but rightfully protecting what is yours is a different thing altogether.
I would conjecture 95% of the population here couldn't care less about the elk. Lots more pressing community/societal issues to worry about. Until the community is on board, the elk population will continue to dwindle. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but until you give the non-hunters a reason to report these people and protect the animals, it's a relatively lost cause.
