Every out of state hunt I've done, I've sat all day if that was what we were asked to do. I get ramped up enough for the possibilities of what could walk out next that I don't need my phone or a book. I shot a buck in South Dakota one year that if I'd been in a book I'd never seen it chasing a doe 500yds away. I've been fortunate on bout half my hunts I've killed first day. Here in KY I hunt all day fm Oct 20 til end of Nov.

I for one love all day hunts. Over the years they haven’t always paid off, but I still enjoy them. I’m 51, and this past opening weekend I did it 3 consecutive days. Friday(crossbow) wore my sons jacket and got soaked, but managed to tough it out. Saturday morning was covered in snow. Still cold that Sunday but managed. I take snacks, thermos of coffee and a thermos of oatmeal, few hot hands and my gear is good. I enjoy all nature so I’m getting a show regardless. I text some and read my devotional and pray also. I also study projects to do in the off season (like trees to hinge). It is difficult and this past season was my 1st time doing it, since several years ago. Years ago I remember a few 1 deer days and it was bucks around the middle of the day(so I believe it can pay off). This past season all 3 days was 20+ deer days, so that made it easier. I had a doe and her twins feed on my cereal rye 3 times a day. About the only thing I could pass along to any hunter is, I’ve learned more about deervwatching them and not shooting them. Everyone’s situation is different, most of us stay to busy to hunt all day. I’m sure it would be easier in a blind or some type of enclosure, but I’m not ready to step out of the natural environment. I hunted in a tripod stand, and my summit climber.

I always take some lunch with me and a few drinks. Everything goes good until about 11am then time seems to crawl that's usually when I eat lunch and stand up to stretch. a Great stand is also key have to be comfortable however I will not sit all day until the time is right( 1st of Nov - 20th ) then I'm the tree daylight to dark everyday. I have 4 bucks on the wall and one at the taxidermy from this past year and all 5 of them range from 150" - 180" and they all have been killed before 2PM. I firmly believe in the mid-day hunt when the timing is right.

Don’t really love all day sits. Have done a handful but usually like to get down, grab a bite and head back in. Couple years ago it was one of my last days to hunt for that trip, saw like 6 bucks and was still seeing deer but got down at 11:30, was frozen. Hung a camera on woodline and power line corner when I got down. Grabbed camera in January when pulled the stand. Biggest buck on the farm that season was first pick at like noon. Had to have walked right under the stand. That one stung.

I gun and muzzleloader hunt all day. I have a pack stove and I bowl some water when I first get to my stand while i am putting on my clothes on and eat hot oatmeal for breakfast. I carry a thermos with hot cocoa and I eat cheese and summer sausage and I also carry some small chocolate bars just incase I start to get cold. For lunch I have a sandwich and made on the stand chicken noodle soup and drink some Gatorade to help with electro lights so i don't get cramps at night. To pass the time I carry my New Testament KJV Bible and I read while setting waiting for a deer. Several times I have put down my bible and picked up my gun and shot a buck almost powder burning them they were so close. Make sure to be ready from 9:30 - 2:30 I have shot a LOT of deer during that time frame. Always make sure you have 2 flashlights in case one gets lost or just quits. Also get some real deer horns and Rattle early of the morning up to about 10:00 and watch and grunt ( i use Wood Wise 6 in 1 call)
and I have called in a bunch of bucks and doe with it.
Also wear a camouflage face covering and I use Fresh Earth Scent wafers too.
Wash your clothes in scent free soap and wash yourself with scent free soap and then wash with Baking soda and then rinse off. It will help with scent control also put Baking soda in the rinse cycle of washing your clothes.
Buy a good backpack to carry your clothes in as you walk in so you don't get to overheated. If you want more info let me know I will be glad to share with you or anyone.
Also set up so you ARE NOT LOOKING INTO THE MORNING SUN! Been there and had a BIG BUCK get away because I couldn't see through my scope.
I set on the ground 99.9% of the time and kill deer just learn quick movement THEY SEE YOU!
Ephesians 3:20 is so TRUE!!

You just gave me some ideas, thanks! Sounds like a downright luxurious way to hunt. I have a large stand with lots of room to store food and supplies. Next season is gonna be great!
