Killed this banded mixed duck Saturday

    I was lucky enough to have this mixed duck come in Saturday morning. Just happened to be packing a band along with it. I think its a mallard / widgeon mix, but what do you think? Either way, its going on the wall.

    I've killed a few blacks on the Ohio that had a lot of green on their heads but that bird isnt as dark as they were. Sweet lookn bird.

    I was actually looking at that site when you posted. It does look like the black mallard cross, just odd it only has two green strips instead of the solid green. I will get the info in a few minutes.

    I got its twin in to mount last week. Mallard/black hybrid.

    I requested to have the certificate sent to my house. Since I never kill any banded ducks, it would be something I can put in my hunting photo album. They information that came up listed the bird as being banded in Michigan on 8/27/2009, species = mallard. Guess Ill have to wait to see the other details.

    let me know about your certificate, I killed a banded mallard last weekend that was banded on 8/28/2009 in michigan and once the certificate came in is said the town of loxley, michigan, yearling bird too

    pics wont load, but black/mallard cross is the most common hybird... could even been a hatch from a hybird and mallard(if it carrires alot of mallard traits)
