Was an uptick in #s from what I've seen. I haven't shot one in the 4 years I've had the farm and won't until I see a good jump. Doing everything I can do predator wise and habitat wise. Lots of beechnuts this year so hoping for continued growth! But if I go out and shoot em we'll never see that uptick! Work dogs, enjoy the time outdoors and pray god shines down on the grouse! :)

801 around Rowan county? I haven't jumped many there in a long time if that is where you are talking about.

Where I hunt deer , in the 80s and early 90s we used flush birds every time we went in the woods just walking the main drag roads. In the last 20 years, we haven't seen or heard 12 birds total, and none in the last 5. There's probably more food and cover now than there was then. Believe me, they weren't killed out by hunters.

I would like to attend but I have not been able to because of a traditional grouse hunt we have the last day of the season. Can I ask why the banquet is held the last day?

Years ago the banquet food wasn't chicken or bbq or any other protein it was fresh shot Grouse! The birds shot last day were cooked that evening and that was dinner. Hence why it was held last day.

Since that is not possible anymore, could it not be changed to a different day? I know it is to late for this year but maybe the years to come.

PARENTS TAKE NOTICE: The KGHA is a a great family organization and we provide a great family atmosphere and have historically provided countless opportunities to get children involved and in the outdoors. Thanks to an unbelievably generous donation from Larry Lewis each child that attends the banquet will be GIVEN (Yes, I said GIVEN) a ticket for a chance to win this nice Rossi 20 gauge single shot shotgun. An FFL dealer will be in attendance and will be able to transfer the gun into the parent’s name. Please bring your kids and sign up for a family membership! Only $25!!!! You can’t buy a family dinner for $25. Get your kids off the couch. Turn off the video games and bring them out for a chance to win this nice gun!!!
