What's your solution to capture the data? Filling out a questionaire at the end of season takes 5 minutes. I do it now for a couple of states. Quick, easy, painless.

The solution is not to fool with it and add even more direct and indirect administration costs to their department, plus having regular folks mess with it.

Missed me....I have filled out ones on snow goose hunts in Arkansas and Manitoba on bears tho. Just general questions you may get from other hunters.

What is the point in doing that? Just don’t answer the survey if you don’t want to give usable information.

How do you know how many people hunt squirrels and rabbits? Small game hunting is popular in Western KY.

When was the last time you heard someone say we could really get a handle on this declining hunters problem if we just had less data????

They call in their harvest and county hunted. It’s easy. I do it yearly for deer.

Yeah, but you don’t kill deer 3-4 times a week.

Checking in a deer or turkey takes maybe 5 minutes. If that’s what it takes to get the information needed to manage our resources then so be it.

If folks would fill out the small game surveys that are available we won’t be put in this position.

I guess. I just know the older hunters are going to be put out with that, and will look for an easy way out. With the last of the CRP deals coming to a close, I expect quail and rabbit numbers to decline again. Thoughts?

Most of the older hunters I’ve been around get irritated with any change. I’d say we will see a decline but we’ve been seeing declines for years so at this point there are numerous variables.

You really think people hunt small game that much? Or even hunt for that matter?

USFW has been sending me duck harvest cards for the last few years. I have yet to return one.

I do enough paperwork at work... I'm out to forget that when I have a gun in hand.

Yes. A lot of hunting goes on outside of the area you’re familiar with.
