I'm starting to make some plans for the upcoming season. I bought my kids kayaks for Christmas and am looking to do some kid friendly (short but interesting) trips this year. I plan to float Dennison to Green River and camp with them this year for one trip. Any other suggestions?

My only suggestion is make sure you go through with this plan. Your kids will love it. It is a wonderful trip. There are plenty of places for them to get out and swim and just play in the water around the gravel bars.

One thing I like about that trip is that it can be done all summer long (except when the water gets too high). I'm aiming for May or June though.

Anyone paddled Red River? Is that kid friendly?

In Ky and TN? The one that eventually hits the cumberland river near Clarksville?

Yes, that is a good float. Especially once you get into Robertson County. There is a canoe service that operates down there I think our of Port Royal.

Red river in the gorge (KY) is designated as a national wild river and is very scenic. It's a pretty tame paddle when it's not up.

No, I was talking about the gorge.

I'm guessing that the lack of participation in the few threads started on this topic are playing a part in it not happening. Basically, the demand isn't here for it.

Me & another buddy spend all weekend on the lower Green River...ended up padding 12 miles & stopping to fish were we wanted to...

Paddled right up to an Eagle sitting in a tree...This is a very wildlife rich area with lots of scenery...seen fresh water eels..

We hit it outta the park on the number of smallmouth & redeye we caught..numbers made for up the size on smallies...if you've paddle & haven't made this trip "it's a must do"..

Got several picts...but they'd end up posting upside down...

I would guess its more related to the lack effort from the site owners or perhaps their own ignorance because kayak fishing is exploding across our state. Most people on here haven't pressed the issue because they already socialize in other groups. Still it would be nice to have here. would bring a refreshing change IMO. Maybe drown out a little of the old farts bickering over politics. :)

There is a Kayak fishing forum and website. It is Yakangler. The guys that run it are from Kentucky I believe.

My point was that not a lot of people are posting on the thread about it. So I'd take that as lack of interest by the people on this board. I think when one of the topics fills up with threads about kayaking, they might add it then.

Someone just needs to get Duster a kayak that was made in Canada and looks like Ted Cruz and then he'll burn this place up with kayaking threads.
