Its sad to me we lost some of our best on that beach. Would trade them in a heartbeat beat for ~50 million of todays dems. The beginning of Saving Private Ryan is about as realistic as it gets. I read that lots of men who experienced D-Day had to leave the theatre because of the emotional toll of reliving its realism took on them. Dogging on military people as I’ve read from a particular sorry SOB on here is one thing but you’re dogging on these men as well, heroes imho.
The first 25 to 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan is one of the those things that you see an cannot image that it really happened. It must have been pure hell to have been there an go through that battle. The beginning of Saving Private Ryan is about as realistic as it gets. My granddad hated their Jap slant eyed guts til the day he died and there wasn’t any changing him.
ABC news had a had a segment with a few of the remaining DDay vets. It was pretty good. What gets me is that the news never has anything about D Day or Pearl Harbor on these important days in our country's history. I saw not one mention of D Day yesterday. Heroes for sure but it's a shame that after what they went through, the country has turned out like it has.
