Is it time to make Xbow season the same ?

I’m sure I’ll catch hell for this but it’s my opinion.

I wish crossbow was a much shorter season. There shooting 500 fps, out to 70 80 yards all day. Hard to argue that’s archery.
I get the compounds have come a long way but at the end of the day you have to pull the string and aim. Bad form and not following through is gonna result in a bad shot. It takes a lot of practice to be proficient.
With a cross gun, that’s out the window. I’ve seen 5 year olds shoot them no problem. Woman children and disabled/medically exempt people should no question be able to use them.
My question is, why as an able bodied male should you be shooting one? Why would you want too? Why wouldn’t you want to shoot a compound?!?

I’m speculating, but my guess is the xgun let’s a guy get away with little to no practice and shoot further distances. Distance that you wouldn’t dream of achieving with a compound without a vast vast amount of practice.
Cheat code, short cut.

Your right. I’m going against you on that one. CrossGun 🤣. It’s like hunting but for people that work too hard at their real jobs to practice day in and day out.

Pulling a string with %90 let off then acting like your a Billy B/A is what gives compound bow hunters a bad name.

I would like to see traditional only in September then wussy archery, crossbow and flintlock come in together for October. No restrictions on technology outside of weapons. Then drop flintlock other than late muzzloader and modern gun and resume as normal.

Ok then how bout no scopes on xguns? Would that be the same as a compound in your opinion?

Billy bad ass lol.
You know as well as I do it’s not the same. Let off or not, it’s not comparable. It’s just not.

Where the bad name coming from?!
Compound hunters are the majority of all archery hunters. By far

You can't get there from here.
I would think equipment manufacturers would want each weapon to have it's own little season so they can sell more weapons and accessories. Recurve, compound, crossbow, flintlock, inline, and rifle. Many people would keep one for each season.
Personally I'd like to see traditional archery get a boost in the market.

The bad name came from posts like yours. Todays compounds are closer to a crossbow than a recurve yet for some reason some hunters still get on their soapbox.

I prefer a bow and have never even fired a crossbow. Don’t really care if others want to, I’ll just pull a bow as long as I can. That said…I am originally from MS. We had a TON of deer. Don’t know limits now but 30 years ago it was unlimited deer during archery season, unlimited does during gun and 4 Bucks. They changed primitive weapons to straight walled cartridges. I’m assuming it was to reduce the deer population. This filled the woods with people who could kill deer at 200 yards or more. I hunted with caplocks and flintlocks. My range wasn’t near that. So for us, it reduced the chances of getting out when it was quiet, and having to get close. Yeah it helped reduce the deer population. Crossbows aren’t as big a deal to me because people have always been able to get exemptions. Maybe nostalgia is the reason but I just like a true primitive weapons season ALSO.

I just don’t understand the argument. Watch a trad bow shooter and compound shooter. Only difference is the speed. It’s the same muscles used. Holding it in front of you, one arm pulling back.
Now watch a xbow shooter, it’s much closer to a gun. The only similar thing is it’s shooting a smaller arrow. That’s it, nothing else about it mimics a trad bow.

Also look at the regulations in Kansas and iowa. The arguably 2 best whitetail states in the country.
They are super strict on their xbow regulations.
But they have the best hunting in the world for whitetails.

At the end of the day, you do you. Kill one buck a year I’m good with it.
It doesn’t really matter that much.
so your comparing your compound to traditional lol
It’s a hell of a lot closer than a xbow.
