Instant Pot?

    Well time to try one out. Any favorite items ? Good or bad experiences?

    Nothing but good things to say about ours. Fixed some western style pork ribs Saturday that were outstanding. Put a dry rub on them, added one cup of apple juice, cooked for 45 minutes, pulled them and basted with bbq under the broiler for a few damn good eating.

    I gave it a try today. My wife went back to work in her office this week and I decided that I needed a roast in the crockpot. Spur of the moment thing and nothing was thawed so I tried the instant pot. I put a rock hard frozen 5 lb roast, some onion and a cup of beef broth in that bad boy for 90 minutes on the high pressure setting. I opened the pressure valve when it was done and dumped the roast and juice into the crockpot with carrots and potatoes. The roast was falling apart tender. I'll let it simmer on low until dinner time.

    Probably could have used the instant pot for all of it but I like the crockpot slow cooking.

    I feel like mine dries everything out. Use it for meal preps every week but I’ve never had a real tasty meal come out of it.

    My family likes to make Taco Pasta in it. It's basically like hamburger helper, but more flavorful. And the cheesecake we made in it was pretty good too.

    I did do a roast in it the other day, but it needed more time. It was better the next day after I reheated it in the crock pot. It was a fresh 4lb chuckeye cooked under pressure for 45 mins and 25 mins steam release. I'd try it again, but I'd do an hour on it instead or maybe 55 min.

    And that's the one downside to them--you can't just open them up and check on how it's cooking. You have to wait until the end.
