I've been down in Oil Center acouple times and had one of the neighborhood dogs, a lab one time and then some type of squirrel dog the other, come right up to my ground blind and sit down right beside me. They'd stay put and I'd only have to shush them every so often. Eventually, they'd get bored or smell something and get up and wander off. No sound other than walking through the woods. Had no idea whose dogs those were and had never seen them before. Pretty cool.

Oh yeah, I used to see more deer before I bought my acorn-cruncher and started shouting "C'mere Deer, C'mere Deer!!!" three or four times and hour.

Strange, lots of folks swear by that C'mere Deer...

Vice versa... I used to see less deer until I bought my new truck. Now it seems like every deer in the county wants to jump in front of me when I'm running 60.

I have had that happen before too. I was on a new farm and had heard the stories and just though they were all BS. I think it was my 2nd hunt there and I heard this crunching behind me....I was on the ground. So I was getting ready to put my release on the string when I saw this big ol horse staring at me. It had one 2" wide strip of mane that was probably 4 ft longer than the rest. I didn't know if I should run or try to pet it. I tried the petting route but it kept backing up whenever I got about 15 feet from it.

Maybe he saw a stump!! LOL.

I had a horse that would stay and guard my feeder if a deer came close he'd trot toward them and run them off, found out horses don't like slingshots and marbles. Who knew.lol
