I think I'm biting the bullet

I think I'll bite the bullet and go to a crossbow this year. My shoulder bothers me more each year, and I've lost my practice range since they developed the baby farm behind the house. What are the do's and don'ts with a cross bow? I'm looking at a 10 point, Wicked Ridge RDX400, or the Titan M1 Rope sled. I know nothing about crossbows, never shot one. Any tips, thoughts, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

When the time comes ill be looking for light and compact. I have an older heavy horton 175 and rarely use it.
I hope to buy a $1000- $3000 xbow when they are 3-5 years old for $500 once the good ones reveal themselves.

Keep your thumb out the way. Get a decent speed calibrated scope, or HHA Optimizer, either one. And keep the rail lubed. Try not to buy the nastiest fastest bow either, they're string and cable eaters, even the $3-4k rigs.
Those two I'm looking at are 400 fps. Ten point is supposed to be a great product, and all of the reviews I've seen are positive. From what I've been told, you should treat a crossbow like a rifle.... Get it sighted in, and hunt. They're not made to shoot hundreds of times like a vertical bow.

Love the crossbow! Owned one since 08 and have taken more deer with it than any weapon I own. Cool weapon. Try a few out. We’ve had Horton, Parker, Barnett, Excalibur, Killer Instinct and Mission in our crew and they all kill deer. I’m not a pro but will be glad to answer any questions.

Hell, none of my weapons have it that easy.

What did you think about the Mission?
