I just shot 10 times at a coyote in front of my house with my 22. I knew it was too far...100 plus yards..... but didn't have time to run to basement and get gun out of safe. Wife told me to hurry and look out the window. I can't believe it was that close to my house.
I think one may have hit him. Gonna check after I finish my coffee. Makes me wonder if that's what my dogs bark at at night. How do ya set a trap for them?
Man, that stinks because in today's economy and the fair market value of 22 ammo that was a $100.00 shooting session. Good reason to keep a centerfire at arms reach where it could have possibly been only a .35 cent shooting session.
I am rural. To see one on my farm would not surprise me....but front yard? He acted like he did he didn't want to run away...just trotted off. Good joke on the ammo. I guess I could have tried my Smith 357 but too far for it too. Woke both kids up shooting off front porch
I've never shot that fancy match stuff but my experience with .22 is that it's notoriously inconsistent at ranges past 50 yards. Disclaimer: My opinion is strictly based on personal experience and completely unscientific.
Just got back in. In 30 mins the wind completely covered up the coyote's tracks and blood if there was any...doubtful though. Wind is howling out here and snow going sideways
Remember when you lived in Reidland? There are coyotes all over the place behind your house there and the people that live on the road and the next one say they see them all the time. they don't walk their dogs far any more.
I'm glad you said rural. Worried you might have unleashed the fury within city limits and the forum crew was gonna have to bail you out . But seriously, coyotes show up everywhere. We spotted several in my neighborhood a few years ago and I live in Lexington.
I live in louisville (jtown) and i saw a coyote wandering through my subdivision about a year ago....like he didnt have a care in the world! They are becomming a problem in a few more urban areas.
