How do you handle trespassers

Neighbor texted me and said someone was parked at our gate this morning and assumed it was my cousin, as he is the only person we allow to hunt our property. Well it was not my cousin. Going down tonight or tomorrow to post the heck out of POSTED signs. But my question is, anyone who has caught people trespassing, especially if they are hunting and in possession of a firearm. How have you handled it? My thoughts are if they are parked at our gate get their license plate and call the sheriff and wait for him to arrive, but not sure how I would act if I caught them on our land away from vehicles.

So, one way one of the land owners we lease from in Arkansas handles them is he has the vehicle towed and the owner pays the bill. He said this has been the most efficient and effective way. If you call the Warden you will have to press charges to do anything.
I have no problem pressing charges. The one time we caught someone in the past I had pics of him walking up to my cam and turning it off. Since he decided not to steal the cam I just let the sheriff have a talk with him not to come back

Ask neighbor to get license plate number along with pic of vehicle parked at gate, then turn over to sheriff. If you personally catch them, not worth getting confrontational, talk to them, tell em there's no hunting without permission and to leave. I'd snap a pic of them, their vehicle and plate and make sure they know you have those pics and the sheriff may get involved. They'll probably move on to tresspass somewhere else.

Someone trespassing and HootieHooting turkeys as soon as I got set up this morning. I tell the landowner and he acts like he don’t give two chits so what am I supposed to do? I will say I’ve never had anyone steal or destroy anything where I hunt.

If they are parked at a gate, if I caught it there myself and there was room I’d just pull my truck in behind theirs blocking them in. Then call game warden or sheriff.
Or if having a hard time catching them put one of those cellular game cameras up at the gate (hidden of course) that will send you a alert to your phone and the picture. That would give you the most time to get down there and make the call to catch them in the act.
