I don’t know anybody down here that still puts out a plant bed, they either have floaters in greenhouses or mostly buy their plants.
People stopped with beds when the easy float trays came out. The only problem with float trays is that when you pull them you are out of plants. With plant beds and you had a storm tare up a crop you could go back and pull more plants.
The Gov also done away with Brom-o-gas that was used to gas tobacco beds. Everyone who had plant beds had a end of one just for lettuce or for their tomato plants.
After I gassed my beds and was done with them, I would harrow them up and scatter green beans in them. Plenty of green beans and no weeds.

I'm ordering a new weather station this week that does everything, rain gauge, wind meter, and all the other stuff. Keeps data for historical, etc. I wanna know what these winds are here, tired of hearing 15-25 and my super heavy duty trash can with 30# of trash goes sailing thru the air 60 yds and slams into the front yard!

Crappie was my plan last Saturday but weather prevented, now good weather all this week till Friday and wind again Saturday. Mother Nature needs to calm down on Saturdays that’s about my only day to get the boat out and fish

I live atop one of the highest points in the Purchase Area at around 600 feet — Death Valley type numbers to your eastern Kentucky fellers lol — and the wind blows here even when it’s calm in other areas of the county. I need a windmill ha.
