Something less controversial on this fine Sunday morning (while Ed is attending sensitivity training).
If funds were available, would you? If not, why not?
think it's less sporting, how so? Less sporting than sitting over a corn pile?
What's the minimum acreage fenced in before it's OK?
Going to "be the demise of hunting as we know it today"?

I have no desire for one of those “pay by the inch” hunts on a small fence operation. But a high fence outfit like in Texas, with hundreds if not more acres, fenced so they can manage their herd is completely fair chase. I’d definitely do it if money was not an issue. There are places near BG where you can kill a 240” deer if your pockets are deep enough.

I don't even recognize high fence as hunting . How much bragging can you do with " I went to this pen and picked this one out and shot hum and daddy paid for it"
Anyone want to hunt some cows ? Bulls are extra .Reds are cheap, Whites mid price and blacks one are high price , all trophy cows. Limited hunts available .

Nah,not for me. I like the chance to hunt wild and maybe kill a booner one day.
I got no problem with anyone else hunting that way,it is their money.

Was wondering how many have the same type mindset. I'll assume, maybe right maybe wrong, that you formed your opinion without having any experience with this type operation? Is sitting over a bait pile or small food plot hunting or shooting? Any skill involved? Any woodsmanship needed?

High fence. I wouldn't do it, thats not hunting. Not a fair chance of survival.

I've got sheep here. They are not wild animals. I can call for them and they come running. In my mind high fence hunting is the same thing as calling for those sheep. They have no natural fear of humans. Just because a wild deer is there doesnt mean you will kill it. I've had trail cam pictures of deer that I've never laid eyes on. These high fence deer are nothing more than livestock.

Yea, It does nothing for me. Honestly on super large properties it's not so much the fence I don't think as it is being able to genetically manipulate a superior animal and their behavior. We all like to brag, or feel accomplished, when we outsmart an old deer especially with large antlers. In the non fence areas we can't control antler growth nor buck travel patterns or ranges. You throw in hunting neighbors, disease and other factors it make harvesting an old, large, free reign deer a true accomplishment that not many get the opportunity. High fence is all about the money IMO---the size of the deer you shoot is directly related to the amount of money you want to spend. The harder the situation, the more impressive the feat is when we succeed and drives all us true hunters year after year.

Kidding. 40,000 acres i think would be fair to the deer. No bait zones.
