Guarding my lovely bluebirds
I just emerged from my teepee to... Going back to teepee once I find my lighter and make grilled cheese sandwiches.

Send lighter!

Prithee do tell, what's wrong, Lord Bowfinger? Can't get your bong lit?

I saw these interesting ducks again, early morning upon my own pond, but not for long, being how my apple toss startled both of them into impressively fast flight. I like them. They are somewhat sporty.

Latest teepee drama: there was a large red hair/bearded white male with one shoe along with one sock removed while lying upon the cold, frost covered ground very early one morning a few days ago, beside the water in front of the teepee. Rather startled me; hence, I relayed all to the property owner, whom returned my call not long thereafter, in order to inform me that the man whom I had interviewed had multiple warrants for his arrest out of Lyons County, wherever that happens to be and was quickly apprehended. He had told me he never saw any geese, had been there since sunrise, and had been "doing medicines in a field" before that...

There were eight geese the next day.

Only three this morning...

They have since aggressively swam themselves up by the teepee.

And the sentinel has since gone over to its comfort zone upon the base of the hill and is clucking, but they are ignoring it. They are staking out the teepee zone as their own, it would appear. That means no weirdos from the neighboring property are down there...

There exist crows in which must be convinced to go elsewhere. I saw thirty of them within the sky a few days ago.

Wake an Bake woman just frightened away the sentinel...

The two lovebirds have settled upon tree stumps, for the time being.

And I just spied my first beaver action! Spied its wake, first, and then briefly caught a glimpse of it exiting the water. it wasn't small... Bullfrog action is loud, as it that of a red bellied woodpecker. All the while, some bluebirds are quietly hunting (they live here year round and are soon to receive a few dedicated houses, as are other birds).

Lost a few decoys over the season, got on eBay last night and replaced them. Will be refinishing some that are getting faded when I get home and have to strip the Spanish moss off my blind then let the material dry before I fold it up and put the cover on it for the summer.

I interpreted the question as “have you seen many black ducks taken in last ten years “

And I see black ducks taken every year.

But I have not seen banded black ducks every year. NO. In fact maybe not seen one in last two years. Can’t exactly recall last time. Friends and family with me often end up with the bands. You know how that goes 😂

What is about more rare these days
than a banded one is a PURE Blackduck. One without mallard speculum traits. Or other indicators of breeding with mallards. A speculum like this is rare indeed now. View attachment 110080
Heard today of a banded black duck recaptured this week on a refuge in Tn on same refuge nine years ago same time period approximately.

Looking at my work sechdule, I’ll be getting off 2 days before teal should open. Sent two props off to get reworked by Chris Courville. I know I don’t have the right type of hull for a surface drive, but for now it’ll have to do. Have to finish out these classes first and after that I’ve got to buy a new truck. But after all that’s said and done it’ll be time for a new duck / flats boat
