Two just finally flew low, overhead (directly after I had stepped out of my teepee and walked down to the rather large fire ...cooked dinner here again). First ones since noon; although, others flew the far outskirts, twice, probably out of view. I have been hearing many at one of the ponds west of here. They are fairly nonstop vocal and have been for the past hour.

Very cool... four more flew directly overhead, made three wide passes, honking all the while, then came in fairly close, as opposed to those landing upon the far end yesterday. I could see them, as they were directly overhead but not since then. Everything has been sound alone. I have been very still ever since, out here in the open...

I'm not having to be still, not for those particular four geese. A log rolled off the fire and partially into the water, creating a brief, loud hissing noise. I remained still, awaiting their reaction. Nothing could I hear. So, I slowly stood and walked around to the water, lifting the log back into place. Sat back down upon my log afterwards and still nothing (wearing my red parka, too, but don't know whether they can detect color at night).

I've seen quite a few duck seasons but I never remember ducks being as hard to finish as this year. This is normal late season but we seen it mid December too. My best advice is use the best looking decoys you have and only use a handful. Put them where you don't want ducks to land and hope for the best.

There appears to be a rather young gosling swimming with these four. It was fourth in line, with the loud one behind them heading all to shore, directly after I made a loud noise, myself, unfamiliar to them (dropped my huge spatula directly onto my cast Iron skillet within the teepee.

They have since calmed down, with me being still and quiet as a mouse while still in view, at the entrance to the teepee (I departed soon after dropping by earlier and returned with cooking supplies for brunch....). They are now at Beaver Hill (the former fountain platform). One is now giving a regular bark but nothing alarmingn more instructional sounding to me. They are very curious about me. Might attack, I realize. I am being super respectful of their space, so that they learn to trust me.

Yes sirs, that's a baby with them!!!! Ir is making a slight wake, following them. Cute cute cute! First baby geese that I have ever been around. Too bad I cannot actually see it .. need my old camera and telephoto in storage...

This explains much, confirming my initial hypothesis about these four (little one makes five... hopefully its parents make it....). Since a baby exists within the dead of winter, I am going to offer suppleness (cracked corn, fresh potatoes, shredded cabbage), but not much, because I do not wish to draw in others, possibly making this family uncomfortable and putting baby at further risk.

Axe man frightened them away, all the way up here by my car and making noise while wearing a bright orange jacket....errrr... 🤬🤬🤬😡...

if I am not mistaken, the baby is out there within a nest over in Beaver Hill. I thought they wouldn't leave them. It would certainly explain why the adults swam and briefly hung out there, before heading to shore and then taking flight. Bet if I took a kayak there, I would find it, but would never in a million years scare it like that. Now I can finally start my brunch 🔥, if weather holds long enough (sprinkles off/on).

^following there and one was behind it, herding it along... different places each time. I'll go grab my old lens the next few days, if I can locate it, in order to confirm.

Red parka this afternoon... Two flew directly overhead and kept going. I was sitting waters edge cooking.

An hour ago (5:06pm), nine more eastbound, making a second pass closer to me and my almost dead fire, heading back west (they saw me too, even though I ran for the front cover of my teepee...

Still here and nothing, yet. It is even quiet at ponds within earshot, for the most part.

It’s midnight on Monday and I’m looking at this next weather system hoping it’s hits further south for this weekend. Pray for my soul.
First off, it was NOT the lovely hour of "midnight", when you made that post; therefore, I could have prayed for your lying soul, being that Baby Jesus frowns upon lying, but I realize it may not have been an ACTUAL lie and you were simply high as a kite, instead, causing your phone screen to appear as double vision...

Secondly, it's currently 5:34am and fog may be rolling in with a sunrise directly after 7am; therefore, I am preparing to sneak over to the teepee, for what could be some preliminary interesting shots (which is what I am doing, scouting with my lame cell camera, prepping for the real deal soon to come...). A high of 64°F expected today, which means it is teepee work day.
