i'm a rookie turkey hunter and know absolutely nothing about them. taking garbage out this morning at daylight, i heard turkeys several times. is this common this time of year? are they vocal year round?

do they respond to crows? Crows were making a lot of noise this morning

I have heard them several times in the past doing the same thing. My only guess is just the warm weather getting them to gobble. I use a crow call when hunting them as a locator call in the spring and it seems to work

It's very common. I hear them gobble some in the fall where I hunt but they light it up starting mid-Feb, whether it's cold, warm, snowy or whatever.

Not as common as the spring but they can gobble anytime. A few years back on November 2nd it was in the teens and had one gobbling hard that morning. I remember it well because I missed a 150 inch 8 point that same morning.
