I have a Hawken rifle equipped with a metric nipple (M6 x 1) that has lost it's grip. Not sure if its the barrel or the nipple (or both). I want to drill and tap the barrel for a 1/4 - 28 thread (like T/C Hawken) and I'm looking for direction on who can perform this type work? I'm in the Lexington/Winchester area. Does anyone know of anyone that can do this kind of work correctly in my general area?

Thanks in advance for any information!

As a different solution, you may be able to get a whole new replacement barrel at a reasonable price. For example, I have a Cabela's (Investarm) Hawken, which has the metric nipple. But I bought a Green Mountain barrel for it, and I use that exclusively.

Better barrel then what you had. I’d look into a new barrel.
