I know it happens, but I had solid rest @ 200ish yards should have been a dead yote. It ran off in high gear, still not sure how I missed it. For me a miss sticks with you longer than the kills. I was planning on going out tonight but forgot to charge the battery.
Yep. I missed one last year on a buddy’s farm. First time calling and hunting his farm. Popped out at the 8 minute mark of calling at 280. I’m not used to shooting that far though. It wasn’t coming any closer. I missed. But hit close. It got heck out of there.
I missed one at 350+ 5 or so years ago. Hunting with a plain reticle 3X9 scope. That is why I upgraded scopes, lol.
I agree with most, I remember almost all the ones I've ever missed. I could walk you to about any spot I've shot one in the past, just don't remember the actual shot or stand. I definitely remember the ones I've missed and ended up shooting once they hit another gear and headed for the next county.
Do they tell you what load per caliber to use? Has to be somewhat specific in order to match up the reticle. Certain power to use on the scope?
Saw 2 yotes today. One in the side of the interstate. A big grey outfit. The other in a field off 53. It was red an grey
No, it's all learned by shooting, and I'm still learning..... Need to practice more at 300+, but ammo is so dang high....
If you knew anyone with connections at Gander Mtn, get a leupold with the CDS and have a turret cut for your round. Be sighted in for 100, range target, turn turret to corresponding yardage, pull trigger. Human error can still play a part in choking or not.
I'm not spending that much on optics.... I'm too frugal, and rarely shoot beyond 200, much less 300.....
