How hard is it to do yourself? Pretty rough on my equipment and often times bring my weapon home wet, muddy, and bloody. After a 4 day hunt I have some surface rust popping up in places it shouldn't be.

Believe it's time to have the barrel, receiver and bolt handle reblued. Any tips or gunsmith recommendations would be appreciated.

I have been told there are not many if any places to be one reblued. Check out Cerekote, lots of color options and protects better than bluing. There is a smith in Louisville that does the Cerekote.

Hard to find someone hot bluing is a mess. I just ordered some Vans Gun Blue for $12 and works great for touch ups. As for light rust you can take a brass brush and solvent and get rid of most of it.

I watched Head of the Holler do it. It's extensive but not hard.

Sent mine back to browning, probably 25 yrs ago, either $75 or $125 back then, cheaper than I thought.

Mine old man has done many but he’s 78 now and I’m sure hasn’t messed with it in years. He used to buy a lot of gun parts for a little bit of nothing at gun shows and build guns and sell. I can’t tell ya much about though, he has all the skills.

I’ve built custom rifles for a number of years. If you’re using your firearm like you say you don’t want to re-blue it you want to Parkerize it.

Unless, its just a beautiful wood rifle, if you want rugged, plastic stock with cerakote, way to go, in my opinion.
