Been out 4 times no birds, just a couple of woodcock points.

Went out today and didn't see anything but the pup was a pleasure. No false points, just a couple hours of good effort in the snow.

Hunted for a couple hours this morning. Moved 3 and killed 1. All 3 were together. One flew down the hill. One flew up and my buddy killed it. When it hit the ground another flew up in a tree. We both walked over to it. Not more than 10 yards away, we stood and talked to each other while it looked at us and my Daisy dog bringing his brother to me. The bird finally decided to fly away. We gave him a pass. Would have been an easy kill, but that would have been all.

Hunted a couple hours this evening. Had 2 points. Heard bird fly just as dog came in sight both times. Didn't even catch a glimps either time.

Got a good hunt in today. Great cover, but not one grouse. Got a couple of points on woodcock. Moved 3 maybe 4.

I hunted today and put in 4 1/2 hours of great exercise. I hunted this farm the last weekend of the season last year and flushed 11 birds. Today was like walking in a box of corn flakes, I don't think we could have gotten within a qtr mile of them. The thing I didn't like was I didn't see a single track. They logged it 15 yrs ago and they have been logging it again in March of last year. Do you think all of the logging has push the birds out of the area. It has great older cover and its going to have new cover over the next several years. Hunted the bottoms and then hunted the top of the ridges but never saw any track or flushes. Had one solid pt on a old tree lap but no bird. Are the birds high or on the bottoms?

I believe the noise and commotion of heavy equipment will run birds out of a holler but I couldn't give you any studies to prove it.

I don't know a soul that's killed a bird this season but the 3 that have been seen were low in the coves with beeches over their heads, if that counts for anything.
