12-12-09 hunted 6 hours 10 to 12 year old timber cut ..grape vine, green briar, fern .. We hunted approximatly 200 to 300 acres of the cut and moved one bird which came out wild about 100 yards up the hill from us other than that not a smell...Of course thats what we expected in this fine state of Ky.

JonDunn whacked a bird that flew right to him. I think it was depressed after all the bad weather and wanted to end it all.

12/12/09- 1 bird, flushed out of multiflora and honeysuckle about noon, crop was totally empty.

How about an update? Or has everyone been snowed in? I'm still out of power, hopefully will get back today.

Today Jackson County, bird #1 flushed high from beech treetop surrounded by greenbriar and bird #2 flushed high from beech treetop above greenbriar. Both locations were ridgetops with southern exposure in the afternoon. Bird #3 flushed along ridgetop high from pine, glided into next county. Area at base of tree covered with ferns/greenbriar.

    grouse food

Flushed one bird on Jan 1 mid-morning. Flushed off a point 1/4 the way up from the bottom below me. There was a lot of rhododendrun in this area and very thick. It's crop was full of fern leaves.

    Fleming County Grouse Food

A friend hunted in Fleming County yesterday, Jan. 14. His experienced grouse hunting partner knocked down one bird. The crop was full of greenbrier berries.
