looking to buy a good meat grinder for making hamburger and sausage. Any suggestions?
Cabela's 1.5hp has worked perfect for me for years.
But I've recently discovered, the little lady's kitchen aid is even more gooder.
That's is what I use. Works real good.
1 deer at a time?
I just use a cheap little fwd/rvs Warn that I bought in Cabelas Bargain Cave years ago. Does the job but not heavy duty. Depending on your time frame, Cabelas/BPS may throw a few on sale over the next month or two if you got time? Good luck.
Here’s some more good info.
Destroyed several small ones before buying a 1hp Cabelas about 15 years ago. It's handled anything we've thrown at it with ease!
I’ve done the same, that’s the reason I was asking
Them carnivores will flat out eat some meat! Unless you already got it chunked b4 hand it would take 3 men cutting, trimming etc... to keep that thing fed. Be sure your help stays around long enough to get the heavy sob back on the elevated storage racks lol. Those food grade tubs the right height to slide under the output is a nice accessory too!
P.S.- anyone else wish it had a foot switch option?
YES!! Definitely pick up a meat lug or two to go with it (also available at Cabelas). And there's a foot switch you can buy that you plug the grinder into and then plug the foot switch into the wall. We've used one for years with our 15+ year old pre-Carnivore Cabela's grinder. Can't imagine using one without it. (The burger making attachment is also a "must have" at our house. Coarse grind venison with about 1/3 ratio of bacon ground in with it. Make a 2nd pass at coarse grind & then start making those humongous patties! YUM!!!!!!)
Milwaukee makes a good one.
I never thought about about a foot controller, that’s a game changer lol!
I just saw where there's an auction for a shut down Krogers and they had some industrial grinders in it. The Kroger was one in Jeffersonville, IN. I'll try to find a link to the auction and post it.
I think they have another one too.
LEM makes a great grinder
