My old Weber is gonna have to be replaced soon, probably this Summer. It's been a good one. I've never owned a flat top/griddle. What are the pros/cons of griddle over grill? I mostly do steaks, burgers, and chicken (bbq or whole beer butt).

  2. You’ll want both imho, I have a Weber gas burner and a griddle. Sometimes I want (need) stuff cooked over a far.

Don't fall on it. It's HOT!

Girlfriend showed me the Blackstone she is giving me. Looking forward to picking it up. It's a bit big though...4 ft long Blackstone. Brand new, never been used

  4. BTW check out my post about a flat top griddle for your range, they also make them for gas grills. That way you can replace your Weber with another gas grill and let it double as a griddle.

Would a 22" griddle be big enough? What all do you guys use a griddle for?

This is what I’ll be doing after owning a griddle for a year. I liked the griddle but after a year of use and cleaning, I will be selling it and getting a grill with a on/off griddle top for when I want it.

  8. I’m in the same boat, I like my griddle for stuff you would normally cook in a skillet or a wok except you can cook a lot more of it at once. But I also like stuff cooked over a far occasionally lol and really wish I’d just went with a top I can convert the gas grill to griddle with for time and space. The griddle added another propane tank to mess with too.

I cook everything on mine. I agree at times a steak would be good on a fire.

Would a 22" cover about anything I'd need? Rarely cook for more than three.....

Yeah. I think that’s what mine is. Two burners.

Seems like we’ve had a few of these threads before. I bought a cast iron griddle to use on my grill like 3 years ago and still haven’t used it. I will say if you get a new gas grill that isn’t a griddle, consider an infrared. JMO some people aren’t fond of them either but I like the even cooking of the infrared. Guess it’s a matter of opinion. I was a charcoal guy only until 2012. Still not used to these fancy gas contraptions!

Steaks. Bacon. About dz 1/2 eggs. Eggs are tricky. Least scrambled. They want to run to edges.

I love my blackstone for everything except steaks. Much prefer a grill of some sort for the steaks. I will say there is a little more upkeep and cleaning on a griddle, at least in my opinion.
I do like the idea of a griddle top for a gas grill...but i dont need something else to keep up with at the moment.
I got a 100 lb tank for my griddle..its been going for almost 3 years now.
