Green River State Park Hunt

Had a great time sharing the campfire with all you guys! Thanks for the good food, almost true tales, and the laughs. The weather certainly did add an element of challenge, especially for the pop up camper guys; Randy & Kevin. This one will stick in our memories for life. Who could forget a night spent in the John/bathhouse? A few of us were lucky, smart, or lazy enough to have rented a cabin. But I certainly missed a lot of sleep that night listening to the storm and praying for the camper guys!
But through the good, bad, and the ugly, it sure was fun to share a campfire with you guys. I hope more of you will join us next year if able. Yes; we will probably try again, just give them fellers time to get over this one.

U is right Randy! Found good hunting last year outside the Park, but the hills were too steep for this sickly ole codger! A boat would be a great way to go, hope to drag one along myself! Not having a camper we will probably be getting a room or cabin somewhere nearby. But will certainly spend time around the campfire with the rest of the intelligent folk gleaning from the loads of “wisdom” being shared. And doing my best to keep you all from eating too much!

I just read back on this, “Sickly ole codger” ? I thought sick people had no appetite? I saw otherwise !!!

1 person killed, 2 missing just a few miles north of our bathhouse vacation retreat. Thanks to the park ranger that came and checked on us. He woke us at 6 am at bathhouse, about hour 4 of some very unrestfull naps.

Keep the Winchester gang in mind for next year. When and how to apply etc. Jman Click and myself would be interested in camping with you guys. Better bring extra poker chips...aka oreos if Jman comes. He likes to stack them up.

Be sure to put in for the Green River State Park Hunt (hunt 1) next season, and plan to go even if not drawn, there is lots of good hunting in the WMA around it. Always an enjoyable time. Well maybe except when Hurricanaters come through!

Yes, hunt #1, and dont apply for backup choice or you will get put on the following week, every year. Plan on getting drawn every other year, but come every year.

Anyone going this year? I’m not ready to try my skills at traditional, but I’m hoping to be there this year with my two teenage sons.

Yes sir - my boys and I have been drawn for the first weekend and a buddy of mine has been drawn for the second weekend

I was drawn two years ago but was unsuccessful - hoping for a better round this time.

We went and scouted a bit this last Saturday and have considered staying at the campground a couple of nights.

The boys wouldn’t mind to get some antlers but I’m just as happy filling a freezer with does or anything with a decent sized body.

I’m not against any helpful pointers.

Helpful pointers? You probably should examine our track record! 😝 But There is some mighty fine cooking that goes on around the campfire.
