Headed to Sonora Mexico Late April 2021 after the Goulds Turkey with my father and fatherinlaw. Has anyone made the trip to Mexico, and how did it go?
You’ll do good. I killed mine with rio Sonora outfitters Brad Fulk in the mountains of chihuahua in 2018. Good times. I’m going to Campeche in March for occelated With yukkutz. good luck.
Thats awesome! will be looking for you to post about it in March. Did you have any problems with border crossing or anything? my old man is getting nervous about it. haha
Naw. Brad Fulk did it all. Went very smooth. I think there was 12 or 14 of us hunters and brad does all time so it went smooth.
I have not driven across, only flew into Hermosilla. Even with that, we went through one "policia" roadblock on the way to ranch. Nerve racking would be understatement. One outfitter friend from Tucson crossed hundreds of times with no issues, then one time had issues. Their caravan was stopped and three trucks were taken. No one was harmed but scared the crap out of everyone. Common knowledge to cross border in the morning and travel to ranch early in the day, no traveling at night. Most outfitters have a gun you can rent or use at no charge if you don't want to take yours. If you do take your own, keep your gun permit on you at all times. You'll need it when you exit the country also. I may be going on a bison hunt in Sonora next spring, driving across, and not real excited about it.
You got my nerves going just talking about the experience. With everything going on right now, not sure if I'd try it or not, scary stuff.
I'm not sure if it is or not but I look for things to change pretty drastically after Tuesday's election, either way.
