Two years ago I lost my gun after shooting a turkey. Last year I never killed one. So glad to get this guy and not lose a gun in the deal.

Heard some distant gobbles but nothing close. I finally hear one way over on the next property so I walk closer and call then walk back. Nothing. Did this a few times and he was closer. I set up on a logging road and a hen walks within 3 yards and was a little nervous but walked on. Finally he steps out 75 yards and just stared for what seemed like an hour. Another tom walks behind him and they head my way. After all these years, my heart was still pounding out of my chest. At 32 yards I couldn’t wait another second.

Brain fart.... I shot a bird on the edge of a clean bean field the last few days of season. I took a picture of the bird and walked back to my truck about 300 yards away. About 5 days later I was going back to work on nights and thought I better take my gun out of the truck. Only problem is...it wasn’t there. It hit me I either left it in the field or next to where I parked. I go back after work to look but no luck. It was on private land but someone had found it apparently. Still can’t believe I did it.

Congratulations on the bird and good story. Sorry to hear about your gun, that’s not good! Reminded me though, of an old man I knew. At the time, I don’t know how old he was, but he was telling a story on himself. He went squirrel hunting and fell asleep by a Hickory tree on his farm, when he woke up, he jumped up and walked back to the house. The next year, he found his shotgun leaning up against the Hickory tree, by that time, it was all rusted up, been almost a year.
