    Smoke Phase.... I chased one for a couple years that did have a beard. Would see him at a distance out in the fields of one farm I hunted but never got a chance at him and I tried everything I knew of. He just vanished one day. Cool looking bird. I spent hours trying to get a picture of a Buff phase (tan) hen one year that frequent a field behind my SIL's house and had no luck there either. She ran with a flock of normal colored hens.

    Cool bird. I have seen one like it in Bath.

    It's hard to believe they can survive very long at all.

    She's 4-5 years old and the only white one around. Assuming we are seeing the same bird.

    I don't know much about a hen's life/ breeding cycle so I have a question.

    If this hen is 4-5 years old, is she going through menopause and losing her feather coloring? I know old mallard hens do this.
