I was walking out from hunting this morning and glanced down and this caught my eye. Is this Ginseng?

Now that I know what it looks like I am going to really check this hillside out and see if I can find more. Maybe come fall time I will have another hobby to get into.

How do you know if the root is worth digging?any indicators up top?

Big tops usually means mature seng. However not always. big tops doesn’t always mean big seng. From what I learned big roots are mostly found in poor soil. If u are finding seng in poor dirt sometimes a small 3 prong will have a big root. In others words dig it in sept .

Does three prong mean the number of branches it has?

I wouldn't have thought that ginseng would have been up that tall right now.
Is that on your land or someone else's land?.

It is on my land but the hillside I found it on runs a long ways and does go onto the neighbors property
