Getting buzzed by drones

If one comes flying over me while I’m hunting it’s coming down. Do not care even a little about what the law says. I have drones myself. They are fun and the camera footage can be cool. I also fly it over public property when not on my own place and have enough sense to not be doing anything with it that’s going to bother others. If I started flying mine into someone’s backyard to get video I would expect someone to shoot mine down.

We had this issue a few years back. There was an old thread on here about it. A pretty high tech one that could drop down between the trees. Caught it on trail cam but only saw it once while hunting and it got out of range before dad could blast it. Haven’t seen (or noticed) any in a few years.
God I'd have paid to see those pics and story!!

I posted a vid or pic one on here of a deer looking at it. It’s at night so lots of speculation, spider webs, etc...It was the only trailcam pic I had from the only open area on the property. I got to see it with my own eyes so I know what it was. Like I said, nothing since that season...that I know of. I’ve always heard rumors about how high, fast they go, etc...I can tell you they could elevate or drop this one quickly.

How are people supposed to know whose drone is buzzing around? How do you tell a state drone from a anti's or a weirdo's drone?
I’m guessing one on official business and one that’s used for harassment would have a totally different pattern. A warden would not fly in front of you very long or continue to fly the area to run deer away. I think harassing someone would be easy to see.

Maybe call your game warden and get a tag for it:D Seriously he may say shoot it down because of harassment.

To me, ANY drone flying around for any length of time while I'm hunting is harassment.

This past weekend I had two separate friends hunting in different counties tell me that they had drones come in and hover over them while they were in the stand. They were both of the belief that this is some new tactic being employed by the KDFWR. I have no idea.

Any body else having similar scenarios while hunting? Not sure if this is official business and a new way of checking out hunters or if this is hobby people just harassing hunters.

First I've heard of it.

I think it would be almost impossible to spot a hunter in camouflage. A drone operator would be curious of a bright orange object in the woods and may go closer for a better look. If harassing hunter is not against the law well maybe it should be. These instances may increase as the price of this technology drops. It is a crime to destroy someone’s property. Though. If I am looking though my scope to view this ufo that may deter the operator to find something else to observe.

It's a long and strung out story, so I'll just say this. The FAA was completely caught off guard by the influx of civilian and is struggling on how to catch up in terms of their regulation and certification. The blanket statement about it being illegal to shoot one down is just that, a blanket statement. If you strapped a monkey with a camera to a kite, they would say the same thing.
