Found out over the weekend my mom's shed had a leak in the roof and found some SEVERELY rusted tools I thought I'd at least try to restore. As usual I didn't think to take any "before" pictures.

Anyone familiar with a "Genuine Norlund" axe head? Still need to hit it with steel wool and sharpen it, but it looks like a quality piece of steel.

After taking a steel wire wheel to it

After acid wash and some elbow grease

The rest turned out better than I expected

Barney must be out Shopping for Facemasks or he would tell us the company history of Norlund.
He has more Axes than the Vikings.

As many as he has, I figured he either had a dozen or at least heard of them

Absolutely not! The people wearing the masks look at me sheepishly, especially the business owners who are afraid of Lil Andy calling them out.

Mann Edge Tool Co. made them starting in 1965. They are very collectable.

Those are the axes that were sold on cardboard blister packs in every bait shop, department store, and gas station throughout the 70s, and early 80's.

Yep,... I've seen'em go for $125 still in the package 4 or 5 years ago...probably $300 or more now if as new in package, there ain't no tellin. On occasion I have seen a Norlund double bit axe hit the boards,..they don't go cheap....rare but I have seen them.

I've got a Norlund camp hatchet that has rode in my pick up trucks for ever. It's got me out of all kinds of messes from dead fall blocked roads to cutting pry poles when I've been stuck in the mud. Dandy tool but the handles are a bit hard to find.
