They can pry my gas stove from my cold dead hands and a pile of brass. That’s how much I despise an electric cooktop. Looking at getting a double wide and that’s one of my biggest wants is gas. My entire home is gas, heat pump, dryer, water heater.

Side note and personal per peeve, ranges that dont have a vented hood. When house hunting I couldn’t believe the amount of homes that have an interior useless hood fan. So there’s a part of me that hopes to see that as standard building code.

It's the homeowners job to vent the hood.

Most homeowners cant swing a hammer let alone run the duct work and an exhaust pipe through thier roof.
Depending on location It costs 3-4 times as much (and a PITA) to do it after the fact. Its a BS builder short cut. Who wants to wipe grease off their ceilings every few weeks? Ill add failing to install bathroom fans if there happens to be a window too, but that one bugs me far less.

When the state inspector checked out the hvac on my mother’s new build a couple years ago the range hood exhaust was part of it. Pissed me off actually, I was gonna rig it up myself.

Yes it is a builder shortcut, and everyone lays it off on someone else. By the time homeowners figure out the hood is not vented(if they ever do) it's too late. A lot of folks choose to be their own contractor these days, so it falls squarely on them.
