Barney, they made it last night but i think they may get kilt tonight. These are Reliance, and don't all bloom at the same time.

Most commercial growers grow them on plastic mulch. That helps some during ripening.

Not looking good for my peach tree. Down to 23 degrees right now, colder than even forecasted.

Thanks! I look at long range forecasts but they tend to be off.

Hard to say. This is only the 4th spring where I'm at now. We've had last frost anywhere from 3/23 to 4/17 in that time.

A hard freeze is all I'm worried about. We had several days in the 20s and 2 snows last April. Forecast looking warm through 4/10 as of now.

Most of us are in zone 6. That being said, nothing tender is safe until after the Derby without protection available. I have seen a few light frosts after that date, but they are rare, I would say 2 out of 10 years. Back in the early 90's we had a killing frost in mid May. That frost killed all of the leaves on the trees, and made it a pain to fish the creeks for all of the falling leaves floating on the water.

On the reverse, there has been several years I wished I had planted everything by March 15th!
