Keep the gate closed, he still needs another year.
He’s been out here wandering around my stand for an hour. I only have doe tags. I’ll wait till he’s South East of me and fire a warning shot. Should arrive shortly.
Tony in Ky needs to NFT this !!
UPDATE. So there I was in an undisclosed location (not Indiana) and I look over the horizon And at just over 8000 yards I see trees breaking like a couple of bull dozers are pushing through but to my trained eye I know it’s him. Also at such close distance I can smell his breath Bc well I’m just that good but you all already know this from my basket 4 points I’m known for.
The wind ain’t right so I jump out of my tree stand (only 62 feet high as I don’t like to be too high as it ain’t fair to the deer) and crawl into a groundhog hole feet first so now the wind isn’t an issue. At about 4000 yds old mossy horn stops to make a scrape. Well actually it’s more like a new pond bc when this deer makes a scrape it’s a bout 1/2 acre size wise and usually about 4-7 foot deep. During my preseason scouting I often will fish in the scrapes this deer made from years past. Finally here he comes again and has closed the distance to about 2500 yds and let me tell you the rut is still on as I see him bird dog two black angus and breed them both. my phone is blowing up Bc everybody from field and stream to sports afield wants an interview (common place for me really as I can’t hide my hunting and outdoor skills from the public as they are just too obvious) but I’m a trained Jedi deer hunter and won’t be distracted. I raise the rifle up I decide to be fair and shoot off hand (as a left handed shot even though I am right handed Bc I owe it to the deer to be fair chase) as he’s now only 2000 yds out and doesn’t seem fair to use a rest. I calculate for the 35 mph wind the curvature of the earth and the moon phase so as to hit high shoulder 2.3 inches below spine. I also decide to use the iron sights and not the scope Bc again fairness is at issue. Then right as I’m squeezing the trigger and about to take my absolute rightful place in history books I deserve to be and I notice something. The deers G16 is broken about a 1/19 of an inch at top. I think it happened during the angus mating sequence.
Boys when you’re as good as I am and pass 200 inch deer 3-4 times a sit then you know as well as I do you can’t shoot a deer with a 1/19 inch antler tip missing on the G16. So I passed on the shot.
thanks to everyone offering to help as it’s appreciated. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. You all seem like great folks but if you see a deer with a G16 missing an antler tip I expect you all to pass on it.
This entire thread was PURE. GOLD. This last bit was just the diamond pendant.
So... he needed another year after all....
Wow just wow. Certainly a entertaining coverage of events, painted a picture of the thurdy point buck. You should get a job writing for outdoor life, your hunts where nothing is killed is more entertaining than theirs lol
Oh yeah sorry about not noticing the g16 this morning when I removed the pine tree from his rack before sending him your way, I knew time was of the essence, rookie mistake on my part.
I knew it!!!!
Well after what Ezelkyhunter told me you been saying about me and my grunt calls I had no choice
Hummn was EZELKYHUNTER out bid?
Well I do like apple pie moonshine!!!!!
This was great, made me grin from ear to ear. That ain't easy to do, because I'm a grouchy, salty, SOB.....
