Only person that can change their mind every day and still keep their job is a weatherman. They put those stupid long term forecast out in winter just to piss off duck hunters.

Yeah looks like the really cold temps have been moved back for later next week. I have been seeing lots of geese the last couple of days. Lots of Canada’s with some specks and a few snows mixed in!

TN splits the youth and veteran hunts. Youth get two Saturdays and vets get the two Sundays. Took my daughter out yesterday for the first hunt. No ducks worked for us, and shooting ended for the most part about 30 minutes after shooting light. We had a goldeneye land about 100 yards out but it wouldn't come in close enough to shoot. Highlight of the morning was when my son and I (he's 17 and came to hang out and help drag gear) turned four geese about a mile away - and that were over the refuge. They flew directly over us but were too high to even consider skybusting. Was nice to see our goose calling, at least, doesn't suck.

This coming Saturday looks like a good push for birds with the weather. Just gotta convince my daughter that those Temps really aren't "that" bad, lol.

The youths of Palmated Outdoors braved the cold and had a very productive hunt.

    Guarding my lovely bluebirds
Thought I saw a lone duck or goose coming in low thirty minutes ago, but no; it was one of the dreaded red tail hawks. Many wild birds on the property ever since the snow fell, evidently drawing the evil one's attention. It has circled back once since then.

I wore my "Walk in " waders today and while not the least painful, I could tell the difference between them and my "Boat" waders.. Let a waderless friend wear the 1600s. I'll let him experience the 1200s tomorrow so he feels the difference and buys accordingly . Canucks failed to show. It will most likely get good about Tuesday....
