Can anyone tell what all fish species there are in Sympson Lake in Nelson County. I know it has the usual (Largemouth, bluegill, and catfish) but are there others like Crappie, Smallmouth, etc. if so what are good baits and times to fish for them around the beginning of April. Also I saw somewhere that someone said there was walleye in Simpson Lake, can anyone confirm or done this claim?

Sympsons Lake is more of a water reservoir than a fishery. It is owned by the water district and you have to purchase a $50 permit to enter the lake (if you are a resident). It is not managed for fish like the other lakes are and completely void of structure which hampers the fishing imo. Better off going to Willisburg Lake, Taylorsville Lake, or best off all, Green River Lake.

I've caught a few fish out of Simpsons Lake but just small bluegill. Lots of trash, a fee to fish, and limited habitat usually persuade me to try somewhere else. If you do check it out, watch out for the snakes during the summer!

Under a tree and looking up!!!
Been several years since I've been there. I heard years ago that the kdfwr stocked it with saugeye. It has crappie but you have to weed through a bunch of small ones. Cover is not very good and the parking is even worse. I won't buy a permit and I live 12 miles from there.
