Hi everyone, I did a little searching on the forum but wasn't able to find the information I want.

I am from Georgia and looking to hunt Kentucky public land.

Can someone help provide some links, if available (deer only):

    1. WMA Quota Hunt Selection Odds
    2. WMA Harvest Statistics
    3. 2021, 2022, 2023 etc. WMA changes/updates
    4. Any other links you might find helpful for hunting public land :)

Just to set expectations. 99% of all the big KY bucks you hear about are from private property. People that consistently kill big bucks are doing it on private ground. There is no comparison. Ive seen some nice public bucks killed but they are few and far between. Some of the quota hunts are good though. Your odds of killing a nice buck at home in GA are far better than public here. With that said come hunt have fun and i truly hope you kill a booner in ky lol.

This or they grew up hunting big public land and through the years have found areas that hold mature deer and don’t see as much pressure. I went to murray with a kid who started a guide service. He hunts public in wky and leaves his private for guiding. He’s killed some dandys. Fills a tag every year, but not everyone is a big one.

The KY Department of Fish and Wildlife maintains an extensive website that has a lot of information on it...I would suggest reviewing the WMAs telecheck information with a focus on modern firearm...

Draw success on the quota hunts vary from poor to excellent depending on the location of the hunt and the date with better odds of drawing with the December hunts...

Odds of success are listed on the website but in most quota hunts low (average hunter sees 1 deer every 5-6 hours, some hunts have a bit better odds)...most deer killed are does and smaller bucks in the 100-120 class...that said, there is always the possibility of a trophy appearing at any largest buck came from a December quota hunt (9 1/2 year old, 10 point, 148" and going down hill)...

The best public hunt is actually at the Ft Knox military reservation though it has a laundry list of regulations to deal with...
