First deer you can remember seeing, real life deer.

Probably before I could walk. Daddy killed first deer in Ky with a bow. We drove through Mammoth Cave several times a week looking at deer. 1964 or so.

First deer I remember was in 74 or 75 year after bunch of tornadoes. He was a monster I still picture him in my mind, probably a 90 to 100 inch deer. Lol.
It was a few years before I saw another one.

Asked the wife this question, she was born in 63. She's from SE North Carolina, farm country and her older brothers raised a lot of soybeans and corn. She said she was under 10 when she'd go out with her brothers at night and hold the light while her brothers mowed down as many deer as they could in the ag fields. Happened on regular basis.

Mammoth Cave Park, we were driving thru and saw a big buck just standing there in the woods. 64 or 65

I saw my first tracks in the fall of 1970. It was in the woods near my home on the north side of Cincinnati.

I saw my first deer in the summer of 1974 outside Valmy, WI. It was standing in the road. I took a picture.

1966-67,my brother and me were shooting frogs with our Daisy
BB guns at a small pond in the woods. A spike buck came and got a drink
while we were setting there....

Spring of 77 or 78. I was going to see if the red horse suckers where on the riffle of Fleming creek. Walked up on a doe and a day old fawn. Grass was tall she couldn’t see me very well so she stood on her back legs looking over the fence at me.
Life changing moment for sure.

I can't remember when I saw my first live deer but I remember where, it was in the stripper hills Southeast of Lynnville IN. Some time in the mid 50s. There weren't very many deer then and the stripper hills were where the scattered populations were.

I am really great full for my childhood in the country before the mass migration and money hit the area, we were blessed with lots of wildlife and could virtually hunt anywhere or some neighbor man would stop at take you hunting, I killed my first around 10 years old with 30/30 in creek bottoms, can remember my papaw talking about how the deer came back,

First one I ever saw up close was a doe my dad had shot. He skinned it in the garage, I remember being grossed out 😂

He said I poked its eye with a stick, but I don’t remember that part.

When we lived Between The Rivers (LBL) before TVA took control there was apart of it called KY Woodlands, that run along 68 and went north into Lyon County don't remember the year but remember seeing deer there back in the early 60's. I remember my Dad said it started out as the Hillman Wildlife Refuge back in the 30's. It set in the middle of Cumberland River and the Tennessee River that was before they was made into Lake Barkley and KY Lake.

I don’t remember when I saw my 1st but I remember seeing 11 running together in a field as I was walking home from the bus stop in 1963. I didn’t start hunting them until 1978.

On the way we saw 5 deer walking through the strip mine reclaimed fields. I was 15 and started hunting them 3 years later. Killed my 1st buck in 1975, a 5 pointer. Took my 1st doe with a Bear recurve in 1978.

I saw my first Deer, in the wild back in 1969, in Southern Indiana, on a Squirrel Hunt. While I entered the woods, I jumped a Deer while it was drinking from a small creek.
