Promised my girlfriend I would take her fishing so we hit Taylorsville. I asked if she wanted to fish for bluegill or catfish....with me wanting to fill the freezer with catfish. She insisted on bluegill so we took 4 bluegill poles and some red worms. Pulled up and anchored on a tree in the water and caught 11 catfish lol. Tossed the first one in and set it down while getting another ready when I glanced up and saw it getting pulled off the front of the boat. It was only a 2 pounder but was damn exciting. All were 2 pounds or less but on light tackle was pretty damn fun. All in 1 spot too fishing 2 foot deep.

I try not to ever run out of deer meat or fish. It's been years since we haven't had fish in the freezer. Last year the deer meat ran out just as the season was coming in so I promptly took care of that.
Good luck replenishing the freezer fellas!

Catfish are a ball on light tackle! Love hooking one while crappie fishing. So did y’all catch any gills though? I’ve been working on stocking the freezer with crappie best I can, problem is I want to eat it before freezing it lol I think me and my boy eat crappie like 3 nights last week….and I got some on the fryer tonight as I type this lol

Cats are fun on light tackle but you can go too light. Lost a channel cat about 10 lbs at the boat on Saturday when it grabbed my crappie minnow on 4 lb line. Lost another on Sunday a little smaller. Landed a few in the 2-4 lb range and a bunch of bass. Not a single crappie

I caught about 30 catfish yesterday. I wasn’t looking to keep any of them since my freezer has crappie in it. They were all small though anywhere from 6 inches long up to about a foot long. Did catch one they was probably 16-17 inches long

I haven’t fished there in years but when you talk cats on light tackle. Me and a buddy used to crappie fish Wood Creek and Cedar Creek and cats would burn those minnows up.
