Not sure who all out there is running any cattle but feeders are way up right now it’s a good time to dump them. I sold some 5 weight all black steers that brung 2.35. Glad to finally see the price get up to where they should be.

I think prices will hold well into spring at least. They always drop going into winter and rise coming out but, they didn't drop ridiculously low this winter.

Listening to a report this morning and they stated that cattle numbers are the lowest since 2014 which will hold prices where they are our rise more thru the year.

Since I have you farmers all in one place, im looking for a Holstein/Jersey bull or steer that’s weaned to feed out for beef. Or a calf that maybe has a bad eye or leg or something that wouldn’t sell good but still be good to feed out.

Go online and type in Lexington ky farm and garden craigslist or louisville ky farm and garden craigslist. There are several on there.

Feeders that are Weaned (40 plus days), Vaccinated (2 rounds of modified live or killed vaccine), bunk broke an eating some feed will bring a premium price. Cull cows and bulls are high now also.

Just finishing up slaughtering/butchering a 10 1/2 month old steer half longhorn half angus I think. It was a lot of work! My neighbor had him and didnt want to deal with his shenanigans so asked me if I wanted him. Ended up with 150 pounds of meat including shanks and short ribs. Made Bologna, Braunschweiger, summer sausage, weiners plus ground, steaks, roasts and stew meat and about 5 gallons of Beef stock that is killer! The beef and two deer and we shouldn't have to buy any meat this year unless we want chicken or pork.

Yeah I check it every day and there’s all kind of Holsteins on there but the thing is they’re just weaned and to get a Holstein that’s just weaned up to slaughter weight would be almost this time next year.

That’s exactly what I sold. Mine were 5 weights. I had planned on feeding another 45-60 days but I decided not to take the chance and took the good money now. I got 3 cull cows loaded in the barn this afternoon to sell Friday. The way they are pounding right now they may bring more than what I gave for them as heifers.

That figures cattle are high. Mine won't be ready until May. My son sold some a couple weeks ago that sold decent but if he had of sold them now, he would have made a few hundred bucks more.
I have one young cow that is stupid and when I catch that bit"h up I know she is going to tare things up. Rest of my cows are pretty easy to handle.
