Well I may have to try them dry. I have picked chanterelles but they were getting old and needed lots of cleaning and trimming. The ones I froze, I filled the bags with water to prevent freezer burn. I may try freezing some dry next time?
Scared the crap out of my buddy when i slammed on the brakes after spotting that lion’s mane. The trail was not much wider than the Tacoma with a 50 foot drop on the passenger side lol.
I stopped and took a picture of the lion's mane like on the second page a few weeks back bird hunting, should have picked it and ate it. It was on 12/18/19 and it looked just like that pic, about the same size.
Yup, you messed up lol. I wouldn't have known what they were either if not for this thread. Good eats
I found another ten pounds of oyster mushrooms yesterday afternoon while driving down a back road. Fella with me had permission for hunting on the place so we loaded up three big grocery bags full. This has been the oyster year of all years it seem to me. The cold spell and rain intermitant combination seems to be the perfect set up.
The one in Deabeat's post is a Lions Mane/lions Beard...edible. The ones on the log in Nocks post are Oyster mushrooms...also edible. if you find one you think might be edible , please dont guess about what they are from these pages if you go to try to eat any mushroom..have somebody who knows the mushrooms for sure look at them in person and ID them,
He knows his stuff! He is an amazing resource... Are You macho enough to eat a poisonous mushroom????
He was quite informative, indeed. No, I am not macho enough to eat a poisonous mushroom and enjoy making spore prints.
