The older I get the worse I hear and most of my masks cover my ears. Think I'm gonna get back to my roots and start using charred wood from the stove again. Quick, easy and free.
I would disagree with that. They have more than 2 dimensional vision. I have had them on a couple of occasions look up at me when not wearing face paint after walking from behind cover. Not when I was drawing my bow either. I don't like wearing a mask, so thats why I use a little black paint to darken my face.
I'm not sure what 2 or 3 dimensional vision has to do with it. A bow in front of you is cover, just like a limb or foliage. I've never had a deer bust my bare face if I had background cover and/or cover around me so that I didn't stand out. However, I have been in a tree with camo from head to toe(including facemask) and have a deer come from the wrong direction to where they could make out my bare silhouette against the sky. They immediately went on alert without any movement from me. Everyone will have their own opinion based on their own experiences but I will not be wasting money on make-up.
Yes I do. Of course, there's no way to prove it either way, and it's just my opinion, but given similar circumstances since then, the same exact stand in fact, I've not had them do that again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Perhaps I misunderstood your post. You alluded to the fact that they react to movement. While that is true, I was alluding to the fact that they react not only to movement, but also something out of place that's not moving, meaning they can pick something out because they have depth perception. You choose to wear a mask to break up your outline, I choose to wear camo paint. It's the exact same concept. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just think of the animals Fred Bear would have killed had he known to smear on the misses make up before heading out!
Would you wear something over your face in a ground blind? Or for that matter would you wear black clothing even?
I personally love the face paint! After all if it wasnt for face painting and under armor, how would we be able to tell who the wannabes are.
Ultimately as so often happens our thread went from someone who obviously uses face paint wanting others opinions on their favorite kind to a discussion on the or pros and cons of it. We just can't help it i reckon , if someone asks for your favorite .243 load for deer we have to immediately point out the superiority of the .270 So back to the OP's question , I like Dead Down Winds
