The Dept. didn't estimate how many tags would be available. That's totally up to those drawn and whether they buy the tags, but they said only 75 people had been in since the beginning without being drawn. I'd speculate that if you've been putting in for 24 or 25 consecutive years, there's a solid chance that this year or next you'll have a tag!

I've put in 19 of the 25 years and the last 13 or 14 consecutive years. If they keep up the loyalty draws, I may be closer to a tag than I think.

If there are 50 unclaimed tags, I expect those specific tags being drawn for. Meaning if they are all unclaimed cow tags, are those lucky 75 only going to draw cows? It would makes sense that way because of the management quota numbers, but what if you only want a bull? Do you decline the cow tag and get put off for 3 years since you were drawn?

The draw started in 2001. So there have only been 23 years. You can now log into My Profile and see your “Loyalty Years” which is the number of consecutive years you have applied (according to KDFWR records).

The Loyalty Redraw will assign forfeited tags that match the tag type applied for that year. So if 50 forfeited cow tags, they will only be assigned to people that applied for cow. If you only bought Bull, then you will wait until an available bull is forfeited (and you are drawn).

Didn't know they kept track . Thanks for the info. I checked and they are correct. Congrats to those who drew. Hope you have a safe and successful hunt.

I drew a Archery crossbow either sex tag. My son drew this same tag last year and killed a big 6 x 6. I'm excited. I've been putting since the beginning except I missed a few years here and there. I've been putting my son in since he was 9 and he was 20 when he drew his tag.
Well lightning struck twice and I got a 2nd week Bull tag. I got the same draw in 2009 and I was able to get a nice 6 x 6 on my own. I know things have changed greatly since then so anyone who cares to share any advice on DIY or outfitters to avoid or consider please feel free to share. I am grateful to have been drawn again but would give my tag to my father or daughter in a second if they would let me!!!
Congrats to you both. Good luck.

I think i have a better chance of hitting the real lottery. The odds are online if anyone wants to see them. I warn you there not good so i suggest if you wanna keep faith you not look. It use to upset me but not anymore. I have coached several to put in for it and they get drawn so i atleast made some dreams come true. I have put in every year except 2. Of course 1 of the 2 was 5 years ago. So my loyalty is only 5years. I just hope there actually doing something good with the money. The local lake is nothing but a giant septic tank and i keep hope that they will pump some money into that an the states wmas. Maybe trade our elk herd for some more rabbits or something. If i kill a elk im just gonna brag about it for a few days untill it rots in the bed of my truck and have it mounted. Who eats wild game anyway. Im kidding. Haha

Your post tells alot about the type of person you are. Willing to give your tag to a family member over yourself. Thats good stuff. An i too wish this could happen. If i drew i would give my dad or my daughter my tag in a heart beat too. If you did it in 2009 on your own i would have to think you can get it done again. I hope you get one and i hope your family can share the expereince with you in some form shape or fashion. Maybe video your hunt and of course they can help you eat it. If i had any info to give you i would but i dont know jack about over there. I do think some of the senior members on here can point you in the right direction. Folks like RL Webb and several others seem to know what there talking about an im sure would be happy to help you anyway they could with info.

I think it was on Ky Afield, can’t remember, but a few years back they told the number of people who had put in every year and had never been drawn. At that time, I want to say it was only like 165, maybe even less.

Better have boots on the ground scout and door knock if you are DIY.

It shows I put in 18 of 23 years. Every year since 2006 but none before and I know I put in before that at least a few times. I remember being disappointed the first couple years while I was in highschool. Not sure their tracking system is accurate
