I bet he is still around your place, ojibwa62. Last evening I saw two Doe and one Spike Buck, and all seemed to be in good health. This Hot & Dry weather is NOT good though, and the Deer are mostly staying in the woods where it's cooler, coming out in the evening.

There is always some cases of E.H.D in the State, which is normal. It's when it hit a certain area taking out up to 50% of the herd that's bad.

Will pull the cards again in about a week and see, not all that excited about hitting the woods in this heat.

It hit Pendleton county bad in 2007. That is also the year I shot my biggest buck ever.

Opinions on hunting during or after the year of a "bad" EHD outbreak? Remember the milk river region of montana? It lost close to 90% of it's herd in 2010 and still hasn't fully recovered.

My opinion give the deer a year or two to recover.

    What is yours..

It has been several years since the major outbreak here and I still think they are in recovery mode. Don't see near the numbers as pre EDH days. And nothing has changed crop or area makeup.

When it hit our area hard in '07, I quit killing does for a couple years and then a very limited harvest of doe for a few years after that. We have recovered nicely. Not back to the pre '07 numbers but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Last weekend I was in our woods some, cutting trails mostly. Briars, pokeweed and multiflora rose are getting browsed pretty good right now. We’re not seeing much out in the fields or food plots.

I found a huge buck I hunted last year floating in lake August 10 of this year. Buck was big and healthy. No signs of other damage. I think it was EHD without a doubt. First one I've ever seen. If I find any more I'll report them top KDFWR. Farm is on the Anderson Mercer county line, near the Bluegrass Parkway.

The officers at the fair were talking about it Saturday. Said they have a few cases that are under investigation right now in Kentucky but didn’t make a big deal about it.
