Duck proof muskrat trapping

I had some success last year trapping muskrats out of my ponds, my dilemma this year is trapping them without catching non target animals, (my domestic ducks)
Anybody got any brain storms on something duckproof?
I have some colony traps, but water level is so low im not finding spots to put them deep enough to drown the rats. Would cubby sets work for muskrats ? I have a mountain of 6 “ pvc pipe im thinking might work for that.

I haven't seen a muskrat around here since beavers and otters showed up. I used foot hold traps and a stick stuck out from the set so the rat would wrap around the stick and drown. I say I averaged 5 to 8 rats per day unless it rained and the creeks were up.
I have had a few to chew their foot off even had a tail one time. It got to where I could clean a muskrat and stretch him in no time.

I used all conibear traps last year. Got 20 or so muskrats. Ducks all around. Didn’t snag any.

My ducks follow me. I just know they would get in it. Guess i’ll just have to try and use colony traps and try to funnel them in to it some how

Seeing muskrats and H-burg in the same post brings back memories. Northern part of the county on the Salt River. But, I've been gone since the early 80's.

I live near burgin, but grew up around mcafee. Theres very little of salt river i have not been in. From us#68, all the way to four roses distillery in anderson county. What section are you familiar with ?

I must have done decent. Not seeing any runs at all in the 4 ponds I trapped muskrats in last year. I did it for pest removal. Got ducks out here swimming right now.

Mostly the last part from the Salvisa area to the bridge at the BG parkway. Graduated 82.

Pretty decent water depth from there to distillery. I saw evidence of mill sites, ( blown out dams)

I caught a duck in a conibear one time, non target of course!
