It occurred to me that with all the rain and back water, there are literally more flooded fields with food and good conditions than there are individual ducks. It’s stupid. And so is 60 degree weather in January. Maybe the hippies are right.

    They are.

Water everywhere and no real cold weather in the extended forecast.

They are calling for 50 and 60 degree days for the next 2 weeks...5 hours north that average is 38-42. Nothing changing soon.

No weather north to push them. Don't look like they aren't going to get any to push them down.

I’d just assume it stay 60 degrees with stiff south winds at this point.

Actually a few fresh birds around today. Better get them while they last they'll be bouncing right back quick.

Guy I used to duck hunt with, RIP Ron, blamed the lack of numbers on DU. He said back in the 70's and early 80's, there were plenty of ducks every year, regardless of the weather..... I don't know, as I did not duck hunt then. I do know they killed way more than they did in the late 80's and early 90's when I started hunting with them. He said because of DU, there were thousands of refuge acres for the birds to stay on between here and their nesting areas up north. They stay on those areas, un-bothered, until weather forces them South. Always found that interesting.
