Glad we are getting a nice steady slow rain. Put fertilizer down yesterday afternoon. Should make a decent plot will probably spray lightning and select next week to knock the weeds back a bit
Could not find any additional information about the planter on the planter but I did take a few pictures. Maybe it can be identified with the pictures?Tell me about your JD planter. I've got an old 246 or 248 over at our old place. Probably been sold for scrap by the meth heads that rent the place or has a tree growed up in it now.
Looks like my 246-247 but yours is missing the fertilizer buckets.Could not find any additional information about the planter on the planter but I did take a few pictures. Maybe it can be identified with the pictures?

I put out about an acre of sunflowers last week and then broadcast millet on it, and ran a couple rows of corn around the edge and then threw a ton of wheat on the outside of all that. Poor dirt where I planted it, sure I'm gonna have to fertilize the crap out of it to have anything. Put out 2 other fields in corn so I guess I can bush hog some of that around December and they will eat it then, who knows?Looks like my 246-247 but yours is missing the fertilizer buckets.
What fertilizer you using? How much per acre? I skipped on it with wheat 2 years ago and it came up fine. But I am using millet this year and don't know what to useI put out about an acre of sunflowers last week and then broadcast millet on it, and ran a couple rows of corn around the edge and then threw a ton of wheat on the outside of all that. simple answer is do a soil test and put on what it calls for. What fertilizer you using? How much per acre? I skipped on it with wheat 2 years ago and it came up fine. But I am using millet this year and don't know what to use
Too late for thatsimple answer is do a soil test and put on what it calls for.
I used 19 19 19 , just what I had already bought. I had good millet a few years ago when I broadcast it and broadcast 19 19 19 on it. Using a planter and putting out crops is all new to me.What fertilizer you using? How much per acre? I skipped on it with wheat 2 years ago and it came up fine. How much per acre? Only thing I have ever used is 10-10-10 at 200 lbs acre IIRCI used 19 19 19 , just what I had already bought. I had good millet a few years ago when I broadcast it and broadcast 19 19 19 on it. Using a planter and putting out crops is all new to me.

So far I have $30 in seed, $40 in diesel, and $10 in glyUrea or triple 19. 200#’s of 10-10-10 is not much at all.
200#/Urea or 400#/Triple 19.
I suggest a soil test as well…they may not give you the best recs for maximum yield but you’ll know baseline where your at.
Edit to add: Dove fields aren’t cheap…but seed is sometimes.
I didn't put out much first round, it was just what the planter put in the rows with them. I went ahead and bought a ton of fertilizer to use throughout the year as needed. I should do a soil test, but I usually just put the triple 19 on and then follow up with some lime. If I see a ton of rain coming in and know it won't get really dry, I put some ammonia nitrate on it. I don't remember the number on it, seems like it was 34 0 0 or something, i know it had 2 zero's.How much per acre? Only thing I have ever used is 10-10-10 at 200 lbs acre IIRC
