From planting date how long to sunflowers blooms? Assuming normal conditions of rain and weather?
Usually 60 days. I like to say a 90 day maturity. Plant, 60 days to bloom, 30 more to dry out. Sometimes more or less.
Seen a few birds hanging out this weekend.
Mine are gonna be decent they are a little further along thinking about spraying round up overtop to knock some of the grass out underneath them
Nice looking field.
did you disc or rototiller your plot seed bed?
great looking field we probably got close to 1,000 birds right now most are feeding on standing wheat but are dusting in the sunflowers hope can hold-em
Thx. I thought so. Good looking field
Field is really starting to dry down. Overall a decent crop of sunflowers. Doves are already hanging around so I mowed some of my wheat/rye left from last year for them. I may wait another week or so and spray the sunflowers one last time and try to control undergrowth. I’ll probably move these next year and crop it to control some weeds.
And you have a pond right there! Great looking field and I am sure they will appreciate the wheat.
Nice looking field. It’s about time!!!
mine have not even bloomed as were planted on June 20 a month late. Hopeful for late shoots if At all.
had a turtle once get a dove i shot that landed in a pond
I started mowing my field in strips yesterday getting it ready for hunting. I have to mow one to two weeks before season starts. Those turd birds , little yellow finches has cleaned my sunflower heads . I mean pretty much all of them. I still have lots of foxtail and a lot of millet . My field is weedy and nasty looking because of all the rain we was having but there is lots of doves in the field.
I first thought someone planted a pot crop in my dove field . This picture was taken about 100 ft from a side road and in my dove field . It was weedy and Millet is hard to keep clean. I threw my brakes on on my tractor and backed up to take a closer look and saw it was not pot but weeds. I don't know the name of this weed. But I bet if the choppers flew over it , they would have set down.
